Who'd Have Thought...

The other day I was going to Banjul (did some shopping, got 3 new skirts so the two that are ripped can be retierd. Was stalked by some crazy guy for a couple of blocks, same old). Anyway, we were taking the inland road, and we passed by this compound of some sort. It had broken razor wire, nothing to make it stand out. Until we got to the sign. Guess what it said? "Central State Prison". I have seen high schools in America with better/more security than this place. If we were in America, it would freak me out. But here, I actualy kind of like it. The idea that the Gambia is so safe, that the prison is that run down.

On another note, someone mentioned that I had a lot of knitting projects going. Two comments on that: 1)I had more in the States and 2)I have nothing but time here!

Computers

OK, realise that I get to a computer maybe once every 3 months. In thoes three months, stuff happens, but it may not make it on my blog because:
-I have forgotten it
-I didn't think of it as I was sitting in frount of the computer
-the post get's eaten
-I didn't feel like writing it

So, please don't be offended if something is not here, if you are not mentioned, etc. If you are important, you got/get letters in the mail. I like letter's better than e-mail, so really, that is more a guage of what is happening that is memorable and importnat, and who is importnat.

Yes, there is knitting...

I am actualy knitting in Africa. People here say it is to hot (and it is), but it also keeps me sane(ish).
I have knit:
-2 pairs of socks
-a small mat
-washcloths
-lace beaded bracelets

I am in the middle of:
-a pair of socks
-a jacket
-the Kimono shawl from Folk Shawls (I think I am going to frog this though)
-the Irish Diamond Shawl from Folk Shalws (ran out of yarn, though, so am waiting for people back home to find it and send me more)
-a larger mat

I would like to knit:
-a sweater
-the Sampler Shawl from Folk Shawls
Unfortunetly, this last pattern I didn't bring. I thought I did. I brought the yarn for it. But I guess the pattern didn't get xeroxed. The book is living at someone elses house, who has yet to reply to any letters. So if anyone has that pattern, and can scan it in and e-mail it to me, or xerox it and send it to me, I would be very grateful.

I wish I had brought the book with me. But when I left I thought "book that I love + Africa = not a good idea". Ah well.
