6 months of blogging goodness...

Wanna see what I found on livejournal?

Cute, aren't they? I'm not really a dog fan, but the puppy is cute. Or maybe it's the yarn that is cute...

On another note, I have had this blog for 6 months and 10 days... Wow. Who'd have ever thought that six months would go so fast. And so much has happened since I started this thing... Wonder what the next 6 months will bring?

Knitting Olympics

How many teams can you joing for the olympics? I mean, I understand that for the Olympics, you compete for the country you are from, or for one country, or whatever...(ya, I couldn't really care less about the Olympics... I used to when I was a kid, but then when the Dream Team for basketball went...I decided what's the point? Proffessional athleates competeing against people who have no hope of even competing, let alone winning...)
But what about the Knitting Olypics? I want to joing so many teams!! Just because I like to pretend I am popular. Now, there is the button for the USA Sock Team and others from that website, and ones from the Anit-craft people, and now I found the Welsh knititng (according to the rules, I can join since I went on a school trip to the British Isles and me and some friends romped around. We went to this town with like, the second longest name in the world...copied out of my passport, but the stamp has kinda faded, so some of the letters were hard to read...anyway, it is on the Isle of Anclesly in North Wales
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych-
wymdrobwllllantyslllogogogoch...
ya, the Welsh have a strange language... I wonder what the ethics of a good Irish girl consorting with the Welsh would be...) and so many others!!!

Decisions decisions...

Buttons

I love buttons. They are so cool. Icons for my lj, buttons for my blog...one can never have enough...

Except, what happens when you can't get the button you want? Like, at the FtSFtB site. They have a button that I wanted to use to link to their site, but I couldn't do it. It is one of thoes buttons that changes images. I can save it to my computer, but I only get the image that was up when I saved it (and the times i have tried, it has been a really bad image.) Sigh...so I used another one, that is cool, but I didn't want to use it as a link. It's ok though. Some day, I will actualy figure out what I am doing on the computer. But until then, if you look over to your right, under my profile, there are cool buttons that I have collected. One is for the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics, and one is from The Knitting Libran's Extreme Knitter competition. I have sent in 2 pics for. Hopefully soon when her life has calmed down a bit, we will get to see the rest of the entries. But until then, she has given us buttons to play with! Yay!! They make my blog pretty. Some day, I need to get someone to design a button for my blog...

On another note, I spent the last week housesitting out in the boonies (for thoes of you who know Tucson geography, I live near Amphi and was out past Sabino Canyon). I knit a lot. Worked on the shawl until I thought I was going to die!! Am nearly done, but I can't stomache to even look at it right now. So I moved back to my jacket. It is nearly to my waist! Yay. Now, to figure out the math for the waist shaping. Fun Fun. (I hate math. Took calculus twice, and barely passed the second time)

USA Sock Knitting Team

From JenLa, who has a nice collection of buttons for the Olympic Knitters. Check her out, and see if she has one for you.

Since I decided I will be knitting my first pair of socks, I took...

I love buttons. Some day I will need to have one made for my blog. I have no idea how to do that. For livejournal, I steal my icons, mostly from my friend Lisa, she makes good ones. Hmm...I wonder if I could take lj icons and put them here? Or would that be a copyright violation?

What crawled up your butt and died? A knitting needle?

My Stitch 'N Bitch group got this e-mail... I was going to post the e-mail, but I can't find it anymore...it appears the group no longer exists...which is the gist of the e-mail. It was about a threat that the moderators had received from Sew Fast/Sew Easy Inc, who say they have copywrited the phrase "Stitch 'N Bitch" and would sue US (!!!!), a small group across the country that get's together and knits. I mean, really!!! What are they going to get from us?

Then I found this site...
they have a pic, but it won't load correctly on my computer...

So, if you live in New York, don't support Sew Fast/Sew Easy Inc.. If they think they can improve their buisness by threatening a small group of people in another state, one that doesn't make any money off the term "Stitch 'N Bitch", they have another thing comming. Threatening people is not a good way to do buisness. They need to learn that!

Ego...SuperEgo!!!

Ok, so there is this webiste, EgoSurf and I tried it. I put in my blog, my lj, thefacebook, my college alumni page, and my dad's website, and some other stuff... (ya, I want big ego points!)

I have 459 ego points from google, 591 from yahoo, and 328 from msn, which gives me a whopping 1378 ego points!!! That toatly makes up for my blog being worthless!!!

Then, after doing it, I thought up more sites to put in...but that would just be getting carried away...

nono, it's ok, I don't need that much of an ego boost...it's ok...I'm popular...I'm more than 1000 points popular...weeeee!!!!

Knitting Olympics

To knit or not to knit...

olympics

The Yarn Harlot has this idea of having a Knitting Olympics...

I don't know...I want to try it, but I have this problom with finishing things...I know that lately it looks like I have only been working on the shawl but that isn't true. In reality, I am a knitting slut...Though I am down to 10 WIPs, which is a record for me. I haven't had that few since I started knitting.

SHould I do it? What should I knit? 16 days of knitting on only one project...16 days of sticking withitness...

Maybe a pair of socks? Never done that before...

A job two sticks could do...

I just started my third skein of the shawl. It needed to be balled, so I had my dad hold it for me, and he sucks. A job that could be done successfully by 2 sticks, he failed at. It's kinda sad. But I balled it, joined the yarn (using the Russian join yay, Rain, my hero!!) and am continuing on happily. Nearly done with "lace pattern 1", then there is "Eyelet 1", "Lace pattern 2" and "Eyelet 2". I am happy about this, since I am getting board with this lace pattern. 112 rows of an 8 row pattern. Anything you have to do for 112 rows gets a little old after the first 70 rows...

Hi, I'm new and my life sucks more than yours...

Why does that seem to be the intro post to all knitting groups? I am on a couple of knitting e-lists, and it seems whenever someone new joins, they give their intro post, and it has all the usual stuff..."Hi, I have been knitting X years and I am X old, and I live in X part of the country." And all that is cool. But then the add "and I have XYZ illnesses, and ABC is wrong with my life, oh, and did I mention my divorce and my sick cat and aren't I cool because my life is pathetic?"
I mean, why do I care? This is a group about knitting. An e-mail group about knitting. I will never meet you. Why do I care that you were in an accident 20 years ago? And why does that need to be the first thing you say? Do you walk up to a stranger on the street and tell them your life story? No? Then why walk up to a group of strangers on the interent and do it? Oy...

On other news the shawl is nearing it's third skein. I need to find a better way to join. It is cotton. When I use wool, I splice and felt the join. With acrylic I usualy knot it, but with this... I tried this one that a friend told me, knit the two strands together for several stitches, but then you have these ends just hanging there, and it is lace so weaving them in is difficult...
So, my cyberbuddies...what is your favorite joining technique?

Steal this sweater...

Have you been to this website? No? Go. Realise of course, that only open minded people, people with a sense of humor, and liberals will enjoy it. If you are a brain-dead Bush supporter (gee, I wonder what my political affiliation is?), then you will not like it.

So many ideas...

Oy, the tinking

So, I have been working dilligently on the shawl. It was working up nicely, and really, that should have been my first clue. I skipped a row. And it is one of thoes patterns that you can't do that. I noticed 2 rows later. It is also one of thoes patterns that you can't frogg (not that I frogg anyway. Not unless I am scrapping the entierty). So I tinked back 2 rows. We are not even going to pretend to think about how many stitches that was. Now, nearly 24 hours later, I am finaly getting back to where it was before my brain took a holiday.

Weekend SEX

The fiberous acquisition kind. On Saturday I went to the Purl's End of the Year Sale, and got some wool for a shawl that I am makeing. It is nice stuff...Baby Ull Dalegarn, 100% wool in a light brown color. I love getting yarn that is written in a language that I can't read!! I will totaly post pics of the yarn later.

On another note, the shawl that will remain nameless is nearly about to start the second skein. Keep your fingers and toes crossed. I did mess up on in a little, but I think I fixed it without the need for frogging. We will see...
