That's wonderful, Cerridwen! One of our neighbors' daughter is in the Peace Corps in Central America and loves it. Another neighbor's daughter served in Africa doing AIDS work and couldn't wait to go back (she's there now doing additional work as part of med school). The only drawback that I can see is that there won't be a lot of yarn shops in Africa. But that's a small price to pay for the experience. I wish I had had the guts to do Peace Corps work when I was your age.

And your sock(s) looks great, by the way. They've certainly improved since your mutant sock experience. Great job!

Congrats on The Gambia! I'm an RPCV / The Gambia myself (2003-2005). Great place to work. I have many links of other PRCV / The Gambia blogs on my journal page, your welcome to check them out. Mind give you more insight as to what life in The Gambia is like.
