This is what I did Sunday. I went to the Tucson Botanical Garden's Butterfly Magic Exhibit. It was awsome. I went into a greenhouse full of moths and butterflys!!

Ya, not the greates't pic. There was this lazy yellow one that landed on my hand, then flew to my head. I think I have a pic of that, but on the other camera. These pics are all off my dad's. and yes, that butterfly is hanging on my butt

wow, huh? that moth is something like 10inches wingspan!! It was sleeping, and pretty much ignoring everyone. Then, after the pic was taken, it moved, like it was itnerested in my 100% wool, so I ran.

Yarn Aquisition...

Wow, I totaly didn't spell that right...but I really don't want to look it up. Why? Because I have yarn to show!!
Yesterday, I picked Shea up from the airport, and after lunch at Eegee's mmmmm...Eegee's....*drool*, we went to the Back Door Bead's sale. This is what Shea got...

Well, actualy, the blue (Classic Elite Inca Alpaca 100% alpaca color 1146 don't you hate numbered colors?) my dad and I got her teh nite before, but it is hers.
She got teh other stuff (Ironstone Yarns: Brooke 50%wool 50%nylon color 374). Out of it, she is going to make a vest from Folk Vest a very cool book. I want the whole series. Some day. I have Folk Socks, Folk Bags, and Folk Shawls. I highly recomend them.

This is some of my stuff that I actualy got a bit ago, but decided to put up here anyway. It is from BDB's sale room, so I suppose it can go into the post of yarn bought on sale...

It is Smart by Sandnes (100% wool color 2171). I really like this stuff. It is superwash, and I used it to make teh Wool Peddler's shawl.

And finaly, here is my stuff. Some of my Birthday Yarn that I picked up from my mothers house the other day, and more Manos del Uruguay, color 46. I am also going to make a vest out of it, from Folk Vest

Casper's Cable Scarf

Why, Cerridwen, when I came to your blog today, I noticed that your list of WIP's had changed...

How right you are. I finished the Cable Scarf (my first attempt at cables. They are so much easier than I thought). It is pretty short for a scarf (ok, since most of the scarves I make are 9+feet...), but it is for a 6 year old, and I don't want him to drown in it. Here is a pic of it...

You know, when I first started, I was so intimidated by the idea of cables...but then I actualy did them, and they are so much easier than the directions even made out. I like doing cables...I think I need to do an Aran sweater or something...Yes, I am Irish, so I suppose knitting something Irish would be good.

Juniper (43)

Manos del Uruguay, 100% wool, color 43 (Juniper). Beutiful, isn't it? The picture is from the Earth Guild website. Not really sure, just did a google for Manos. I saw the yarn at Back Door Beads...I am not sure if I can describe it...a wall of color. One whole wall, just covered with hanging hangs of Manos wool...it was beutiful, breathtaking...

So, I picked a color that I thought was nice (hard to do. So many colors...), and would look good on me. ANd I spread the word. I told everyone in my family, get me this for my birthday. This is what I want. Everyone get me at least one hank (currently on sale through October for 40% off at BDB), and then I will hopefully have enough where I can knit me a sweater.

I have never knit anything for myself. Or at least nothing that I have kept. I an very excited about this. If I get enough, I would really like a sweater jacket. Something long, down to my mid-calf, or better yet, ankles. Open in frount, with buttons... I have this picture of me wearing this jacket, sophisticated and warm, all thouse around me are jelous of my jacket and my skill in knitting it.

Now, if I could just find a pattern...If anyone has a good jacket pattern, point me in the direction. SOmething that will do this lovely yarn justice.

Knitting Related Content (but still no knitting)

Yesterday, I went to Border's and got Knit Lit the Third and Knitting Yarns and Spinning Tales

Very excited. I have started Knitting Yarns and so far, it is good. I also went to the Back Door Beads sale, and got some really nice stuff. But you will have to wait until I am home for the pictures and the details of that stuff. Try to control yourselves. Patience is a vitrue and all that!

Distraction

OK, so to distract you from the rash of boring post, little knitting related content, and lines and lines of text, I bring you even less knitting related content tada!!
Hehe. Anyway, this is a pic I took from the Visitors Center from Colassal Caves. Basicaly, I fell asleep in the car, comming back from kayaking one day, and when I woke up, we were there. I had never been, so my dad decided, we should go.

You can't really see them well, but there are some bats hanging on the roof here. This is right inside the caves. They were big, and fun.

You know you knit to much when...

I was discussing history, mythology...well, several -ology's, and the Golden Fleese was brought up. And I think I might spend to much time think about knitting a lot, when my comment was, "I wonder how you would spin that up? And what would you knit? Would probobly have to be a pretty big gauge." And it wasn't until later, that I realised that was a pretty strange thing to say. Well, not really, but only because I was the only knitter in the group.

Where the hell is our knitting?!?

I know, I know. Everyone is asking where have I been, why haven't I posted knitting pictures, what is up with me...

Well, I am housesitting for my aunt while she is in Louisianna looking for houses, so when they move there next month, they won't be on the street. Or worse, on a cousins couch.

And I am sick...so sick that I don't feel like knitting. I know. When I told my mother that I would not be dropping by her house Tuesday because I was sick and not going to the local Stitch 'N Bitch, she asked if I needed a ride to the ER.

But I am at school, because I have a test today.

But I promise, as soon as I am home, I will post some pics of randome knitting stuff, or maybe distract you with cute pictures of my cat...

Oh, and for ANYONE IN TUCSON Back Door Beads is having their 2nd Annual Fibre Fair. What does this mean? All the yarn is 20-50% off!!!! WEEEEE!!!!! So go, and buy it all!!!!

I lied...

I know I said that I was sick of living somewhere where it was still 100 degrees out in October. I lied. It is cold out! OK, maybe not for some people, but for me, 61 is cold!! Especialy when I am wearing sandles, capris and a thin muslin shirt(I love this shirt). I mean, yes, for the past week or so, it has been a bit chilly when I left for school, but has warmed up considerably by the time I get out of my first class (around 10am). Today? NO!!

OK, time to toaly get my butt in gear and knit me some socks and sweaters!! I am cold! Socks first. Then sweater!!

the idiocracy of cyberspace

I hate stupid people. Especially people who can't take a tongue-in-cheek post. See, my spelling has even deteriorated in my head hurtingness of this.

Why? You ask...well, apparently the people in cyberspace, sans those brilliant few who read this blog,why yes, Cerridwen, your ego did start steroids, thank you for noticing, can't take a tongue-in-cheek post without taking it seriously or to far.

Point in fact: on one of the livejournal communities I belong to, and I won't mention names for fear of embarrassing the idiots innocent parties, I posted a stupid little post about the burn test. Basically, the gist of it was, "I love my yarn. It hurts me to burn it. Does anyone else feel such pain? Oh, for the love of yarn! I am anthropomorphizing an inanimate object! Weee!"
The responses have been overwhelmingly, "get a life, burn the yarn, it's just yarn, fire is fun." I mean, really people, I said that my yarn feels pain! Does that not say something?!? But now, I don't want to go back and clue them in. I mean, if 1)my sense of humor is to dry and subtle (is it? I have no idea. I get my jokes) or 2)they are to dense, I really don't want to have to go back, mostly because I am lazy, and partly because it has generated more comments that it warrents.

I am going to read other knitting blogs now. They have a sense of humor. They make me happy. No more talking with stupid lj people. Grr...

Lord of the Dance

I got tickets to Lord of the Dance on Thursday! Yay! I am very excited. I have wanted to see the show live as long as I have known about it.
When I was a little kid, I always wanted to do the Irish clogging. My dad used to tell stories of his family doing it, and Colleen (my pediatritians daughter and a friend who I was in the same class with from K-4th grade when I transfered to a different school) did it, and I would go to some of her competitions and stuff and watch her. I always thought it was soooo cool. Except I have no sense of rythm(so bad, that I can't even spell the word. I tried, then gave up. Sorry folks), I am a kluts, and by the time I really really wanted to do it (about 10ish), my knees were to bad. So I could either try dancing or I could play sports. Well, having only brohters, I played sports.
But I still love watching it.

So, what does this have to do with a knitting blog? I am glad you asked...
What project should I put in my purse and knit befor the curtian goes up? (you know, the really important question)
